Today we got our Big Green Egg!
It's exactly as pictured here except without the shelves.
We have a table on order, but there was too much snow to get it into the backyard, and it wouldn't fit through the front door. So our egg is temporarily nestled in it's little nest until the snow melts.
On our first night, we decided to cook 3 chickens. It was snowstorming out, and we placed the egg just outside the patio door and lit the charcoal.
The plan was to cook the chicken at 250F for a couple of hours, but as it turned out we got hungry and cranked the temperature. Chickens took about 5 hours on a drip pan, and were extremely charcoaley. A little too much so. We plan to try beef next time!
